American History 1
Throughout this class we will explore the colonization of North America by Great Britain, France and Spain and how that led to the creation of our representative government that we have today. We will investigate the events from colonization to the Civil War and Reconstruction.

FYI - the textbook listed above is not the CMS aligned textbook, but it does include the new information we are required to teach in American 1 that isn't in our book! I HIGHLY recommend this as an online resource, but if you are looking for something specific and cannot find it here, I recommend you visit one of the certified sites below!!!
The following items are from the North Carolina Department of Instruction. They may help parents and students better understand the materials that are being presented in class by the teacher daily.
American History 1 Standards - This document outlines exactly what I am required to teach in the classroom and what knowledge the student should walk away with. Lesson plans are outlined with these standards daily. American 1 Released Test - NC released test questions that are similar to the final exam that is given at the end of the class. This test is given as a pre-test for the course, but is ALWAYS accessible to go back and look over throughout the class as a reference for the end. American History Syllabus - Please read the syllabus carefully and complete the survey at the end. It is a class grade and requirement to participate in some class activities.
